How it works in FileLume

• The selected image is uploaded over HTTPS to the FileLume processing service.
• The configured background-removal provider receives the image only for this operation; the current client downloads the response as PNG.
• The current server limit is 500MB per file. The file is uploaded over HTTPS for the requested operation, and temporary working files are deleted when the request finishes, including failed requests.

Best for

• Creating transparent product, profile, object, or subject cutouts.
• Preparing an image for a new background or design layout.
• Removing a simple background without manual masking.

Format and quality guidance

• The current output is PNG so transparent pixels can be preserved.
• Clear separation between the subject and background generally improves the cutout.

Trade-offs to expect

• Automatic masking can remove fine hair, translucent objects, shadows, or similarly colored edges.
• This operation requires a server upload to the configured specialist provider.

Limitations

• Complex scenes, multiple subjects, motion blur, and low contrast can produce imperfect edges.
• The tool creates an automatic cutout and does not provide a full manual mask editor.

Common errors and fixes

Part of the subject was removed.

Use a clearer source with stronger subject/background contrast or a manual editor for precise masking.

The background remains around fine edges.

Try a higher-resolution source and review hair, fur, glass, and shadows closely.

The image cannot be processed.

Confirm the format is JPG, PNG, or WebP and the file is below the current server limit.
