How it works in FileLume

• The Office file is uploaded over HTTPS to the FileLume processing service.
• LibreOffice runs inside the service to convert the source to PDF, and the current client downloads the response as a .pdf file.
• The current server limit is 500MB per file. The file is uploaded over HTTPS for the requested operation, and temporary working files are deleted when the request finishes, including failed requests.

Best for

• Creating a PDF from DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, or PPTX files.
• Preparing Office documents for a fixed-layout sharing or upload workflow.
• Converting files that cannot be reproduced reliably with browser-only document libraries.

Format and quality guidance

• The result is a PDF copy; the original Office file remains the editable source.
• Fonts, charts, page breaks, formulas, and animations can render differently from the authoring application.

Trade-offs to expect

• Server-side LibreOffice improves format coverage but requires uploading the selected file for this operation.
• Fixed-layout PDF output does not preserve every editable Office feature.
